Our Services
Here at Thorndyke Oak we make everything bespoke and handmade. All our frames are made from high quality fresh saw (green) European oak. For certain jobs you may require an air-dried option where the timber has had time to dry out.
All our frames are made using traditional jointing methods and fixed in place using oak kiln dried dowels, everything is pre tested and marked up before leaving the workshop. All of our jobs we can offer to you as a supply only in kit form, or we can come out and erect our frames for you.
Oak Framed Garages
Our oak framed garages are bespoke and designed around your needs. Whether you are looking for a 2 bay, 3 bay, 4 bay or more – Thorndyke Oak can work with you to design your ideal garage.
As well as the shape and size of your garage you can play around with the design, you can add garage doors to create a secure storage/workshop area. We can add log stores to the outside of your garage and even add extra rooms above with access via internal or external staircases.
Oak Framed Porches
Adding an oak framed porch can enhance your property’s looks and add character to your home.
Our porches are fully customisable, with everything being handmade we can produce the perfect porch to suit your needs.
Oak Trusses
Adding an oak truss to any building can add so much character. As well as the look an oak truss can give your home, it also has its structural qualities. Having an exposed oak truss with oak purling’s can replace the need for modern day steels. There are many different designs of truss so please get in touch with your ideas.
Oak Framed Carports
Our oak framed carports are bespoke and designed around your needs. Whether you are looking for a 2 bay, 3 bay, 4 bay or more, Thorndyke oak can work with you to design your ideal carport to shelter your vehicles.
Traditionally carports are left open and just provide shelter from above.
Glazed Oak Frames
Adding glazing to your oak frame helps to create a bright open space for you to enjoy. The contrast between the clear smooth glass goes well with the traditional oak look.
When glazing our frames, we use the direct glazing system. This means the glazing is fixed onto the face of your oak frame and held in place by an air-dried oak capping board. The advantages to this method mean the oak frame can move freely from the glass allowing it to expand slightly in the winter and shrink in the summer.
